Codeplay Software Appoints Mark Whitby as Chairman

06 August 2018

Codeplay today announced that Mark Whitby has joined the company as Non-Executive Chairman, bringing the benefits of his significant experience in the technology sector. The appointment comes as Codeplay embarks on the next phase of growth following a successful round of investment to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technology into automotive and other growing markets.

Mark has gained extensive and broad experience from silicon to software across mobile, IoT and cloud markets, leading large global teams and recently taking on board level responsibilities with early stage tech businesses. This range of experience will enable Mark to contribute at many levels into Codeplay and helping to steer the company’s growth for success.
Codeplay recently passed 2 extraordinary milestones; firstly receiving investment from Foresight to support the growth of the company to meet market demands, and secondly by enabling major global technology companies with its AI and machine learning platforms. The timing of Mark’s appointment is perfect for supporting Codeplay’s plans to connect AI to silicon with its ComputeSuite™ products. The automotive market is particularly relevant for Codeplay’s AI technology, with strong growth in ADAS and other safety features, ultimately enabling the autonomous car with AI.
“I am delighted to be joining the team in Edinburgh” said Mark, “they have demonstrated their products and expertise, and are certainly poised to grow significantly within the AI world. The next chapter is beginning and I’m looking forward to working closely with them to ensure great successes.”
“Codeplay is growing as a result of our products enabling AI in a robust and maintainable way” said Andrew Richards, CEO of Codeplay. “Mark’s appointment as Chairman will bring a wealth of experience and guidance to help the company cross the chasm and carry us into many applicable markets.”
Mark’s extensive experience includes sales, marketing and partner channels at Intel and Seagate up to Global SVP level, as well as a Commercial Director at telecoms giant Vodafone. More recently he has worked as a Non-Executive Director providing board level advice and guidance to a number of high growth tech businesses. Mark’s structured approach and application of theories will benefit Codeplay into the next phase of growth and success.
