For independent game developers to produce a working game concept on a game console is hard. Some turn to middleware, but it can be difficult to find middleware with all the features a unique new game idea requires. This is why Codeplay developed VectorC{VU}. VectorC{VU} lets game developers produce their own game engines and special effects on PlayStation®2 quickly and easily. VectorC{VU} is also ideal for developing new kinds of physics-based simulation and animation.
Says Codeplay's founder Andrew Worsey Richards: "Codeplay believes in helping game developers bring unique new ideas to market. We know how hard this is. It is extremely difficult to convince publishers to back an innovative new game idea - they want to have something to play. And they want to be convinced that the game can be brought to market for a reasonable cost."
Codeplay now offer VectorC{VU} at a quarter the normal price to independent game developers. If the publisher buys the game, the publisher pays the rest. If not, there is nothing more to pay.
VectorC{VU} is already being used by hit game developers such as Hitmaker and Hothouse Creations.
