Interested about Working in Edinburgh?
Edinburgh
is a great place to live. A small, lively, cultured city with plenty of history.
It has the world's best New
Year's party, excellent public
transport and cycle routes, is a tourist
magnet and has the largest arts
festival in the world every August. And it's near
the Highlands of Scotland, with excellent travel connections to the
rest of the UK.
The City
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland, which is
part of the UK. It is a relatively small city of 450,000 people, but
with a lot going on. Edinburgh is within commuting distance of Glasgow
and Dundee. It has an international airport, with regular flights to
the rest of the world.
Night Life
The famous pubs of Leith were immortalised in the
film Trainspotting, but are now very civilized (mostly). There are
plenty of pubs
and clubs in the city and you are within easy reach
of the nightlife in Glasgow.
The Festival
The Edinburgh Festival is
really several festivals at the same time. See: http://www.edinburghfestivals.co.uk/.
It happens every year throughout August. There is a TV, film,
International, Book, Fringe and Jazz Festival. The Festival Fringe is
the largest, with hundreds of shows of various different types and
standards, from very amateur to very professional.
Work Permits
We can
employ people from anywhere in the European
Union or Switzerland without work permits. Recent
graduates of a Scottish University are entitled to work permits.
