COMPILER DEVELOPERS
Codeplay is looking for smart, self-motivated
compiler developers to produce compilation technology for a new
generation of media processors. You'll need to have education and
experience in compiler development. We're looking for people to work on
code generation, instruction scheduling, pipelining, performance
testing and multi-processor optimization.
We're working on bringing our existing C/C++
vectorizing SIMD compiler technology to new platforms and
adding support for the next generation of asymmetric multi-processing
machines.
This is not a games development post.
You must...

Be able to research
ideas, develop new solutions and make it all work.

Understand compilers and how they work.

Be keen to work in a creative industry.

Upset the status quo.

Have a degree or better
Codeplay is a growing company, so there are plenty of opportunities to
develop your career as we expand. We value ideas and are prepared to
take risks.
The skills we are looking for...
(only one of these per person is required. Two is a bonus)

Optimization. Creating fast code for new parallel multi-processors
aimed at digital media processing is our main concern.

Code generation. Producing code for processors that execute
out-of-order is hard. Very few compilers do it well. Don't let these
chips sit around idle, make them sweat!
We do not expect you to have experience of any particular language,
processor or compiler - we want you to work it out.
We do not want the cheapest, quickest or most established solutions -
we want the best.
Working for Codeplay will mean developing our existing parallelising
C/C++ compiler (VectorC) to take advantage of the next generation of
digital media processors. You will be working on the latest games and
entertainment machines. If you think the most exciting new processors
are on science machines, you're in for a shock.
Codeplay is based in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. All development work is
based in Edinburgh, so applicants will need to be in Edinburgh
or prepared to move, and have UK or EU citizenship or a work permit.
For well qualified candidates we can arrange work permits.
