EngD Studentship
Codeplay are looking to recruit a new member of staff to undertake a four year doctoral studentship, fully funded at a competitive rate.
The studentship is for an EngD qualification. This doctoral level qualification is similar to a PhD, but is more oriented towards industry and business than theory and academia.
The successful applicant's time would be split between working at Codeplay on compiler research and development, and studying advanced modules in computing science and electronic engineering at a selection of Scottish universities.
The EngD Qualification
EngD is a four-year programme, placing emphasis on research within an industrial context. Students (known as Research Engineers) combine a research project, based with a UK sponsoring company, with accredited technical and business training. It is designed to appeal to ambitious and able graduates who aspire to managerial positions in industry.
The degree is organised by the Institute for System Level Integration. For more information, visit their website: http://www.sli-institute.ac.uk/
The Codeplay EngD Project
Our four year EngD project will involve the research and development of novel compilation techniques for field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) – an emerging technology for parallel computing. In conjunction with the FPGA High Performance Computing Alliance (http://www.fhpca.org/), the Codeplay EngD Research Engineer will develop tools to aid parallelization of C++ programs to run on FPGA supercomputers such as Maxwell (http://www.fhpca.org/download/maxwell.pdf), and on standard PCs equipped with FPGA-based accelerator cards.
Applying
Candidates should have an honours degree in computing science / electronic engineering (or a related discipline), as well as excellent programming skills. Knowledge of C/C++ is also desirable. Prior experience with FPGAs would be an added bonus, but is not essential.
Interested applicants should send a CV and covering email to jobs@codeplay.com. |
